Hi,
I recently have purchased a Linksys WAP610N for use on my wired network.
The problem I am having is that the device does not seem to be passing DHCP requests to the DHCP server(Windows 2003SBS). I have a working WAP54G which works fine on the same network.
Also, I have updated the firmware to the latest release v1.0.02 v3
Has anyone else seen this problem? Any simple solutions before I open a support case or return it for replacement?
Thank you,
Mark K.

Please let me know which router are using with the access point if you are using wireless router you cannot use this access point in repeater mode that might be the reason why it is not working the way you want it to work as you mentioned that
WAP54G is works fine it is just WAP610N is not working ?
Please let me know the router model no that you are using with the access point.

Hi Quack,
Thank you for your reply. I am using the WAP610 as a Wireless Access Point not as a repeater and it is the only wireless device on the network. The DHCP server is a Windows 2003 SBS server and the internet router is a Sonicwall TZ100.
Additional information:
After some additional testing (I hard reset the AP). It works fine passing DHCP requests as long as I do not turn on any type of encryption. As soon as I turned on WPA encryption no DHCP requests are passed.
Sure sounds like a software rather than a hardware bug but I am not sure.
Some advise would be appreciated!

Make sure the wireless settings on your router and the access point are the same
to make communicate with each other.if they are not the same they will not communicate with each other.
kindly check the settings on your router.

Ricewind hi,
Thank you for your reply.
My firewall/network router is not a wireless end point. The only wireless deice on the network is the WAP610N and it is not passing DHCP requests with encryption enabled. Also, the log on the DHCP service provider (Win SBS 2003) does not report seeing the DHCP requests at all.
This is a bug for sure. The question is...is the bug in software or hardware?
Anyone from Linksys/Cisco monitor this board?

Hard a com to the linksys access point ..
Give a static IP add to your computer of 192.168.1.10 and the default gateway as 192.168.1.245..
Open the set up page of the access point using the IP address of 192.168.1.245
Then create wireless network..name and set the wireless security as wpa personal
Power cycle the access point and the modem and see if that works .
Or follow this this link http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=
See if that helps.

HI Klatch,
Thank you for your reply.
When encryption is enabled on the device DHCP requests from attached clients are not passed via the WAP610N to the DHCP server.
As i was not able to get this issue resolved I have replaced the unit with an a different vendors access point which works as expected.

I have the same issue here with my network.
Dhcp address requests are not correctly forwarded to the Windows 2K8 Dhcp server wher WPA2 is active on the AP.
I think this AP is very poor in quality and features.
I can't understand why this AP don't have a DHCP server integrated. Is it so difficult ?
Moreover I'd like to have static addresses on Cabled lan and dynamic address on wireless part but this AP won't permit this simple configuration. I'll move to another brand ASAP.
