Can not connect to http://192.168.1.1

I have been trying for more that a week to connect to the website to set up security for my Gireless-G Cable Gatway (WCG 200) but all I get from my browser is "operation timed out when trying to conncet". Is there another site to go to? Is this address no longer working? I have also tried 192.168.0.1 but same error message.

Hi.... I think you should reset the gateway for 1 min. Check the browser settings, reduce the security and privacy  on the browser. Disable all the firewalls and spywares and try again to access this setup page with http://192.168.0.1

I had the same problem.  I tried many of the suggestions that the Google toolbar (which sent me to postings of similar problems) stated.  I found that I had logged onto my corporate VPN and as soon as I logged off I was able to connect to the router again.

i am having the same problem.  all cables are connected properly and still no internet.  which leaves me with a monetary loss since i bought the router over a month ago.

i am currently working with an associate, once i figure it out i will advise

keep trying.

What to do?

plz check what is the ip address on the computer---there should not be any static ip on comp
then open IE, type :192.168.0.1---username: blank (nothing)---pwd is "admin"

Be sure to power off all 3 devices in your network.

(This clears the MAC addresses and IP Addresses)<== VERY IMPORTANT !!

First: Power "on" the cable modem, wait for the normal lights.

Second:  Power on the Linksys - Make sure the cable from the Modem is plugged to the "WALL" or "Internet" socket on the Linksys.

Third: Now power up your computer or laptop, if your NOT using Wifi then plug another  cable from socket #1 from the linksys to your computer.  You should now see green lights on the front of the linksys in positions #1 & the "Wall" or "Internet" lights.

If you are using a Wireless connection, then the WLAN light will be on, instead of the #1 light.

Now enter the "arp -a" cmd in a CMD Window, as posted earlier by someone else.

You should now see the IP Address 192.168.1.1....I hope this helps.

hi, gboy here,try this:go to tcp/ip settings and select manual on ip and dns.

192.168.1.[2-254]

255.255.255.0

192.168.1.1

196.44.128.146

196.44.136.165

ok

go to web page and in top bar 192.168.1.1 and enter

admin

admin

basic

wlan

wpa psk

enter secure code and apply

save and reboot

back to tcp/ip and choose auto

enable wlan on pc and search for wireless connections.refresh

enter secure code and re enter.

this should secure your wifi
