Still no solution for WAG200G connection drops??

Having the issue for over a year now, I'm wondering why there isn't a fix for the mentioned connection drops of the WAG200G? I'm on the newest firmware now (1.01.08(3)) but still every so many minutes: bam, lost connection. Red internet light, few minutes wait and there it is again. Very annoying. I'm thinking of buying another brand.

Have you ever tried a hard reset on the WAG200G...reset it for 2 minutes and power cycle...

No, didn't try a hard reset; and what do you mean with "power cycle"?

Hard reset is just 30secs pressing the reset butting I guess?

Anyway: latest firmware is even worse: on 1.01.06 it just disconnects from time to time (only internet; wireless connection stays alive) but on 1.01.08 it does need a power-off about 3-4 times a day, because after the disconnect and reconnect, internet won't come up again. So I have to power off and power on again.

Re: Still no solution for WAG200G connection drops??

I did a hard reset. Result, after the setup: internet connection drop after about 10 minutes.

I hope I can flash the linksys back to version 1.01.06, which was more stable than this version. And I'm heading to the shop for a Draytek or so. I'm rather certain that this is a bug in this machine; I read a lot about similar problems.

Re: Still no solution for WAG200G connection drops??

I finally found live chat on the board and talked to a specialist from Linksys (Daniel). He advised me to hard reset, and set MTU to 1400. So far two whole days with I guess one connection drop, and thats all...

If it keeps that way, I'm very very happy; a rather huge difference with connection drops every 10-15 minutes...

Kudos to you, Daniel..!!

In my case neither firmware upgrade nor setting MTU to 1400 did help. Disconnects like it was nuts. Crap.

Re: Still no solution for WAG200G connection drops??

your problem resides in your DSL Line. Go to Status>DSL Connection and check the SNR margins. If their values are bellow 10 dB it means that your line have to much noise and you much call for suport from your ISP to check your line. In some cases they replace the copper wiring ang the noise is reduced.

Until that try to change your DSL modulation from Multimode to G.DMT. G.DMT is more stable in noisy lines.

Hope it helps

How do you hard reset? I changed MTU to 1400 and set modulation to G.dmt. I hope it works......

Re: Still no solution for WAG200G connection drops??

I have a different kind of problem with the WAG200G.

My connection freezes when the phone rings.  I can live with that.  But WAG200G drops offline at a number of predictable times.  I have the latest firmware 1.01.09.

the WAG200G drops offline when i shut down or boot my PC.  The modem is connected to the phone line and I connect to the modem wirelessly so i don't understand this behaviour.  It also drops offline randomly up to 5 times per day.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated!

thanks in advance,

Russ

Re: Still no solution for WAG200G connection drops??

I have the  same problem like users  before.

My router  drop Adsl connection  many times a day. radomly. somtimes every 10minutes, somemtimess every 3-4hours.

I have  really good line and problem must be in this device.

Another modem; SAGEM F@ST 800 work good without recconect 2-3days.

After upgrade to 1.01.09 router  are more stable than before but  sometimes have  reconnects.

I thnk there is a problem with firmware (many users replace device with the RMA service ,but this don't  solve that problem)
