Re: WAG160NV1 Local Network Problem

This is a known issue amongst users. (discussed many times on this forum)

The hope amongst several users is that Linksys will eventually provide us with a fix in the form of  a firmware update.

However, many users have given up on the long wait and have bought a replacing product.

Cheers.

Re: WAG160NV1 Local Network Problem

Thanks for the awmser

Yes i had read it. The Last Router i had was an wrt54g with an dd Firmware.

Only when many people tell that there is an Problem, is an chance to fix it,

Why is there no Open Source Firmware like DD

So you are unable to ping your computers inside the LAN Network? Make sure on your Router, AP Isolation is set to Disable, If its Enable on your Router, that's the reason you are unable to ping your Computers on the same network...

Disable Firewall and Antivirus on your computer and then try to ping your computer.

Kind of you to try to help a WAG160n user, but there is a issue with the access point that can only be resolved by a new firmware. The problem occurs a couple of hours after a reset (or restart or reconfig/save) and behaves like an IP isolation issue. 100% repeatable.

As to the OP; There's no DD firmware for this router and as you probably read on the website; there's not going to be one.

I can understand why they won't give it a go... If even the Linksys developers themselves can't fix it......

There is a GPL pack available, however, I haven't had the time to take a good look at it. From the brief bit of reading I've done, there's quite a bit of work required just to make the pack viable.

Ah yes, quite like the rest of this router, they've done a botch job at publishing the GPL stuff too:

Actually, this means they're in a GPL violation right now, so there are legal means to attack the company on this issue.
