WAG354G V1: UPNP and other problems

Hello all. This is my first post so be gentle.

My brother recently ran off with the wireless linksys gateway we were using (he did buy it in the first place so I can't complain). I bought a WAG354G as a replacement as the previous linksys had performed perfectly other than needing a reboot once every few days. Since then I have had several problems. I have tried 'live chat' to no avail and so I am trying here before I either return the product as faulty or attempt third party firmware (currently 1.01.11, the most recent as far as I'm aware).

Problem:

1. UPNP does not work. I have tested it using my PS3 (wireless) using internet connection test, my PC (wireless) using UTorrent's port checker and the downstairs PC (wired) using microsofts internet connectivity evaluation tool. All of them fail on UPNP even though it is enabled on the gateway.

2. Repeated network errors on my PS3. Some of these I know to be caused by fluctuating wireless signal strength (from 5-80%) and others are unknown to me, possibly down to a fault in UPNP but then why would it connect in the first place?

Most of the programs I use can survive using NAT alone, however my PS3 will not. I have tried manual port forwarding using a static IP address but then get even more random disconnects and then cannot reconnect until both the gateway and PS3 have been reset. The PS3 is about 10feet from the gateway through 2 cavity walls.

Later today (for the wireless signal problem) I will be trying different wireless channels although 11, 7 and 2 are already in use by other networks in the area. I will also try a wired connection but that cannot be permanent. I also have a BELKIN F5D7230 wireless router (horrible product by the way), could that be used?

Thankyou in advance for any help

Re: WAG354G V1: UPNP and other problems

You have the current firmware on your router, but you can try to flash the firmware and reset your ADSL Gateway as many a times when you flash the firmware, many such issues are resolved...Download the firmware from linksys.com/dowload.
