WAG54GS - how to log connection statistics?

I have a Cisco Linksys WAG54GS router with firmware version  V1.01.03 and I would like to monitor my ADSL2+ connection, which drops intermittently during the day.

Under the setup page http://192.168.1.1/setup.cgi?next_file=Log.htm there is a facility to enable logging, but I have to scroll through the log page by page, which is very inefficient.

Also, there is some status information on the page http://192.168.1.1/setup.cgi?next_file=Status.htm, but this does not include any information about SNR ratio ("line noise") which may be the cause of my connection problem

Has anyone any experience with this version of this router/firmware that could give me some instructions on how to capture some information that would assist me to diagnose my connection problems?

Re: WAG54GS - how to log connection statistics?

Since the gateway WAG54GS does not have the feature of SNR so the log files captured by WAG54GS is not capable to include any information about SNR ratio ("line noise") which may be the cause of my connection problem. You can use any third party software for this purpose. Here is the link for the same: http://www.sgcomputers.talktalk.net/

Re: WAG54GS - how to log connection statistics?

I followed the instructions, but I get the error message "Unhandled exception has occured in your application" and the details can be summarised as WAG54GS Stautus Monitor... is a not a valid Win32 application (Excetion from HRESULT: 0x800700C1).

The detail of the error message is as follows:

Re: WAG54GS - how to log connection statistics?

[ Edited ]

My guess is that the  Linksys WAG54GS ADSL Monitor from SG Computers does not work with Windows 7 64-bit operating system. It appears that it is an application that has been written for computers with a 32-bit operating system, but cannot run on a 64-bit operating system.

Is there any other way to get statistics from this router?

Re: WAG54GS - how to log connection statistics?

According to the scenario Linksys/Cisco Gateway does not support that feature.. So you need to google it and you will get the software for Windows 7(64- bits)...

Re: WAG54GS - how to log connection statistics?

I do not know what you mean by "According to the scenario".

The problem ismy version of the firmware (V1.01.03 ), which does not support telenet that enables the software to extract router stats. However, an earlier version of the firmware may allow telnet secessions. Does anyone know how to revert/rollback to an earlier firmware version?

Re: WAG54GS - how to log connection statistics?

Downgrading the gateway's firmware will be difficult since the firmware posted in the website will be the latest. Try to visit this link:http://homecommunity.cisco.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/Firmware-downgrade/td-p/82023, and check if it might help.
