X3000 and IPv6 support

I just want to ask if there are any plans for the X3000 to get IPv6 support with a future firmware upgrade.

Re: X3000 and IPv6 support

Cannot predict as of now, however as we are aware that in future most of the ISPs will upgrade their network to IPv6, so hopefully we will have a firmware for X3000 as well that supports IPv6.

But if you can use a separate modem and router, then E4200 is the model that supports IPv6.

I see. Not what I wanted to hear, but anyway. Thanks for the reply.

Re: X3000 and IPv6 support

Given that now begins with the transition to IPv6 world, you can have new news on the possibility of updating this device with new firmware to the new standard?

Re: X3000 and IPv6 support

that should be a possibility. however, firmware updates for gateways are usually coursed through the ISPs, so i'm not sure how cisco will go about this. guess we'll have to wait and see! :smileyhappy:

Re: X3000 and IPv6 support

This is extremely disappointing.  I have just (as of 28th November 2012) bought a new X3000 for a client equipment refresh I'm putting in.  I don't fancy the ire I'm going to get when IPv6 day arrives and stuff stops working.

I would much rather Cisco took their responsibilities for current equipment support a little more seriously than "I guess we will have to wait and see".

Guess who I won't be shopping with for a replacement if I have not got a solution ready to go before the brown stuff hits the fan.  [Better still, the system updates itself automatically and I don't have to do anything ...]

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Option: I might be able to get a refund on the X3000 if Cisco can suggest an alternative that does much the same thing, at a  similar price and available in New Zealand.

Here is Cisco's list of IPv6 devices - I have not had time to check them out re my requirments:

Re: X3000 and IPv6 support

I have verified this from the knowledge base website and you are right that those devices you’ve posted were the only ones currently supporting ipv6. I cannot find any reasons or answers why cisco has not released any new firmware for your device yet, probably this was just how the device was designed but hopefully there will be a new firmware that will be released soon.

Re: X3000 and IPv6 support

[ Edited ]

Do not advise anyone to update their firmware to the current version 1.0.04 . This firmware does implement IPv6 although there are major flaws with it and a new release is coming.

Re: X3000 and IPv6 support

Wonderful. So what flaws are with 1/0/04 release, and when is the new release expected? Please advise.

It's worrying that Cisco have released an update with "major flaws".
