Camera Monitoring

I am tryin to setup my WVC80N camera. After installing everything I can view the camera by typin in it's IP address in a browser but am unable to view it using the stand alone Home Monitoring Camera Utility. It continually says that the camera is offline. If I look at my modem utility, it doesn't even show the camera as attached. How can I view it on an IP address but it does not show up on the modem utility? I'm so confused.

Re: Camera Monitoring

Did you set a fixed ip address on the camera? Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the camera utility? If it still does not detect the camera you can add the camera in the utility by putting in the ip address manually in the camera utility.

Re: Camera Monitoring

I have done uninstall/reinstall dance at least 4 times with the utility.I have also manually entered the camera and it still says offline, although I could be entering it wrong. I did not set a fixed IP address for it. Nothing in the setup had me do that.

Re: Camera Monitoring

In this case what you can try is to download the Camera utility from the Linksys/Cisco website or can be downloaded from the following link: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/cameras/WVC80N/download . Once after downloading the utility then try to add the camera and then check whether it still shows offline.

Hi. Try to do what saber_tooth suggested. Have you tried installing the utility on another computer? How about turning off firewall? Or you can try the WVC54GCA utility also for your camera.

Re: Camera Monitoring

OK, had a little time this morning to play around with this **bleep** thing. I uninstalled the camera utility and reisntalled the version in the link provided. After installation, I turned off the firewall, and refreshed the camera list. It immediately found my camera and I was prompted to add something called ffdshow. After installing that, my cam showed onlin and eventually a picture came up, but the thing is using almost 100% of my CPU, which makes it useless.

Re: Camera Monitoring

Yeah, it will be an inconvenience if it uses 100% of your cpu but as what @opheliaimmortal23 said, have you tried installing the utility on another computer. Just out of curiosity.
