I came across my Linksys WVC54GC webcamera that I had used for a long time so tried to install on my current computer which uses Windows 7.
I upgraded the camera firmware to 1.26
I get two problems when I bring up the setup screen from IE by connecting to 192.168.1.115 I can "talk" to the camera OK to do the settings but when I "View Video" I get the request to enable ActiveX but Windows will no accept NetCamPlayerWebllgv2.cab so cannot load it.
Also if I run "Compact Wireless-G Internet Video Camera" then asfplayer.exe crashes.
Is there any updated software that I can download (can't find any) or do I need to go and buy a new camera?

Just make sure you are not using the 64bits version of Internet explorer. Active X controls don't work with the 64 bits version of IE. If you use standard 32 bit version of IE, it should work fine.

Open the Internet explorer. Click on Tools and go to internet options. Click on Security tab and then click on Customer level.
In the list, you will find option for Active X controls and plug-ins. Set all the options under Active X Enabled or Prompt.
If that doesn't work then try another Internet browser like Firefox.

I think I am now on the 32 bit version of IE but the Active X is not installing because the certificate has expired.
I can connect to the camera from IE and FF by connecting to 192.168.1.155 but View Video does nothing.
"Compact Wireless-G Internet Video Camera" still crashes with Buffer overrun in asfplayer.exe.
The setup program on CD is now not finding the camera when I do a search.

Any update on this? I am running into the same issue. It sure would be nice if Cisco/Linksys would fix the ActiveX issue for us.

I have the same problem... It's the certificate that has Expired
Cisco-Linksys LLC
Verisign Class 3 Code Signing 2004A
Valid from june 9th 2006 to july 12th. 2009
Windows won't let you install the activex when certificate has expired.
no matter what browser or security you change to.
This is work for the developers!!! ![]()
I think the only way is a new firmware with new certificated software.
- And remember the EU-version, as the newest firmware here is 1.21
Really bad service!

I found a temp. solution:
Install the camera as usual...
go to the cameras website.
change the computers time 2 or 3 years back (to when the certificate was not expired)
Go to the "view video" page...
Install the software
change the time back.

Purchased a New WVC54GC Security camera. Camera works wirelessly. Can not access remotely. Screen that appears from Icon "Wireless home monituring camera monitor" does not come up complete. I am operating with windows 7. GC

Where do you get the software "Viewer and Recover Utility" for Windows 7 Proffesion?
It is a 32-bit version.
My windows does not run the software after installation.
