WVC54GC can view wired, not wirelessly

Alright, my cam seems to have beat me. I have reinstalled this thing numerous times and changed the settings a bunch of times. I thought I was smart enough to figure this out, but obviously I am not. I can set it up successfully to the point where if it is wired to my router I can view the cam on my PC. But when I disconnect the cam from the router and cycle the power, I can't connect to it all. And I am using the viewer and recorder utility for viewing. Where do I start looking for the setting that is off, or whatever my problem is? And if you need any info to help me solve this problem, just ask. Thanks!

Which type of security do you use on your home network? There isn't much to change... as long as your SSID and Key are correct it should connect.

It beat me too. I've been messing around with the same camera, and having the same problems for about 3 weeks, and i've posted this problem on several different forums, however, i've never been able to find an answer that helps. i'm using the the camera on a home network, and under the settings while wired using a ethernet cable, i have no idea where to go to set the wireless settings. i use a 2wire router.

Re: WVC54GC can view wired, not wirelessly

I am using WPA2-Personal. The SSID is the same name as I gave the network and the key is correct. I noted that the channel was different... My router is on channel one, but the cam is on six. The only way to change it was to reinstall it and set up the addresses manually and that still didn't fix it.

The SSID and key, as well as the channel are the same for me, however the camera still does not, lets say..."pick up any wireless signal, or contact my router"

Upgrade the firmware on the camera to the Latest one and try to use WEP instead of WPA .Hope it works for you.

I tried upgrading the firmware, but there was an error, so i'll try again; however, i have had it set as WEP, instead of WPA, maybe i'm just not clear on how to set the WEP for the camera, although i'm fairly certain i did it correctly. under the security i chose WEP, then put in the key from the back of my router, and clicked apply.

Hey try resetting the router reset button in such a way that power
light is blinking on the router & then do a complete network power
cycle i.e., unplug the power cables from the modem & from the router &
then plug in the power cable to the modem first once all the lights are
solid green you could plug in the power cable to the router & check out
it will definately work!!

I've tried power cycling, from the router to the camera....numerous times, and it still only connects by ethernet connection. is there maybe something wrong with the camera? ever though i bought it brand new? i starting to think the network settings aren't correct, though i'm fairly certain they are, nothing else has been working.

Re: WVC54GC can view wired, not wirelessly

I have a WVC54GCA which is a very similar model. Like you I couldn't make my cam work on wireless, only wired.

I contacted Linksys' chat support and we verified that I had it set up correctly. It was concluded that there must be a cam hardware error so I got an RMA.

The replacement cam worked perfectly, I set it up in five minutes. I'm not saying your cam necessarily is faulty, all I'm saying is that it is a possibility you should consider. Contact Linksys support and get it sorted out.
