Re: WVC80N freezes or stops working after a short perios of time

Having a little trouble following this thread. I see no solution in the "accepted solution" post, and I'm curious as to how/why the functionality of my WVC80N is affected by my OS.

I've had my WVC80N for about a week now, and it's never gone more than a few hours without freezing. When it's on the fritz and I navigate to the web UI and click to view the video, I get the message: "Video for other platform/OS". Again, what does my OS have to do with all this? The cam is hooked up to the network, not an individual computer. If it's suddenly sending some proprietary video format that I can't view on a Windows box (XP BTW), why exactly does it start doing that after working fine for several hours, and how can I prevent it from doing so?

Thanks.

FIXED the WVC80N freezes or stops working after a short perios of time

I had the same problem when I ran the Utility in Windows 7.  NOW FIXED

If you turn off Hibernate/sleep and screen saver in Windows 7, the camera will record without fail and no freezing.

Mine is set to constant record and will go for days with no problems

Granted, I must turn my monitor off so I don't get screen burn, but I don't mind that.

I run two of these cameras and am happy with them once I discovered this fix

hope this helps

Re: FIXED the WVC80N freezes or stops working after a short period of time

Hello there!

I am having a problem with these devices. I got three of them and I have them connected on a WAP610N Wireless-N LINKSYS Access Point. The wireless security is WPA2 Personal with "TKIP or AES" encryption enabled.

My problem is that the cameras (not all of them simultaneously) are losing the connection with the AP and I can't see them. This may happened even when no client is browsing them or having the utility running (and connected with the cameras).

I noticed several times that restarting the Access Point is not solving the problem. The only solution is to restart the camera that is stuck. Because these are installed on some walls at 2,7 m. height, this is not an easy thing if it happened three-four times per week. And it's not only that. I am not being knowledgeable when that happened, thus I am not getting recording! I see that the camera(s) is/are stuck only when I try to access them through the web interface.

Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong with my setup?

Thanks a lot in advance for your time.

Best regards,

Angelos Pitsos

Re: FIXED the WVC80N freezes or stops working after a short period of time

I'm having the same problem.  I'm running two off of the same router.  It works for about 8 hours and then it freeze.  I can't connect back to cameras.  I have to go through setup again to get it re-ip.  When I look at my Router, it looks like it is connected, but I can't get to it.  So I just go through the set up again.  Please HELP!

Set your router to standard 2.4Ghz with channel 9. Set the wireless security to wpa2-aes.
