I would like to use a WVC80N camera at a remote vacation cabin in Maine. I have a wireless router with a verizon mobile broadband usb modem with 5GB/month. I do not keep a computer at this location but bring my laptop there when I visit. The modem gives me internet access when I am there and provides a backup to my security system in case the land line is cut. I would like to use the camera to simply check on the property periodically. See if the driveway got plowed, visitors arrived, etc. Is it possible to use the camera in this way? Will I need to leave a computer at that site? If not, can I view the picture periodically? Can I turn on the camera remotely like this? Do I need to worry about continual streaming which will chew up my 5gb allocation. Help - I am a rookie at this.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Gary, you can use the WVC80N without a PC but in order to get it setup and working you'll need either a MAC or Windows based PC. Once you get it up and running, you can then connect it to your VZW broadband router and you should be good to go. Be sure that you enable the TZO DDNS in the camera or somewhere in the router (camera is probably best)
You can also do a few things to save bandwidth:
1) Set all the VIdeo size to 320x240 or 160x120, streaming smaller video will help or setup RTSP streaming, this uses very little bandwidth
2) use the SNAPSHOT mode to view, go to http://domainname.LinksysCam.com:xxxx/img/snapshot
I hope this helps, it should work perfectly! Let us know how it works out for you

That Link is wrong, the WVC80N setup for remote access is only done via the CD. See This Link that explains the CD setup for TZO or go to TZO.COM and see the tutorial under the Linksys WVC80N camera

Binky, that link is wrong, you can only use the CD to signup with TZO and cannot select the WVC80N and signup, it just won't work.

I purchased a WVC80N and ran the CD instalation using my Windows side on my MAC (I have a dual system MAC) I have an MAC Airport Extreme wireless router. However, the setup doesn't allow me to set up for remote viewing and sign-up for the free trail of TZO. (The setup wizard the wizard never prompts me for enabling remote viewing powered by TZO. How can I do this?
