I just bought an E2000 and used the supplied CD to set it up with my wired desktop. The router works with the wired computer, but the Cisco Connect software didn't fully install. It thinks it's installed, it created a folder in "Program Files", but there's no executable to run. I can't uninstall it so I can't reinstall it. OS is Windows XP. Previously had a WRT54G.

Cisco Connect supports these operating systems:
- Microsoft Windows XP SP3
- Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 and above
- Microsoft Windows 7.
Click on Start ==> All programs ==> Do you have Cisco connect in the All program list?
If it is not there then Cisco connect is not installed on your computer.
Do you get any error message when you run the CD?
You can reset the router and try to run the Cd again. Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 10 seconds. Power cycle the router. Try to run the CD again.

Thanks for the reply. I have SP3. The Cisco Connect shortcut is there but the executable is not there. I've searched for it. I already tried resetting the router but the software still didn't install. The GUI completes the "searching for the network" part then just disappears, and the software never finishes installing. The router works, but I can't administer it. I've tried using the web (192.168.1.1) but it won't except "admin" as the password. Does anyone know of a different pwd for the E2000? I might have to try a physical connection with my laptop (Windows 7) to get it setup right, but I'm worried that it's the installation CD and I'll get half-installed software on that machine also.

I was able to set it up manually from the web as long as I didn't try to reinstall the software after resetting it.

you may call them, their contact information can be found here http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/contactus/
