I was also disappointed when I could run Netflix on my WMC computer but not on my extender. I think I read somewhere that it was a licensing issue of some sort. Something to do with streaming the movies over wireless I believe.
Anyway, the solution I am currently using is to run 2 pieces of software. Neither were free but one is very cheap and the other has various options of either a monthly fee or lifetime. Both can be tried for free.
Playon is the first. this allows you to watch "channels" such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon VOD, Youtube, MTV, ESPN, etc. But it is designed to stream to DNLA compliant devices. Most newer devices do this but the DMA2xxx devices do not. This is where the second piece of software comes in. tubeCore installs as a plugin for WMC and allows you to view Playon (and other software) via your media extender.
This is the setup I am using and I am very happy that I only need one device to watch internet content AND live TV plus have DVR functionality. I wish there was a newer device on the market that did this as I am now experiencing problems with my DMA2100 and newer N routers but that is another thread. ;-)
