DMA2200 H264 Support

Hi Everyone

I have just purchased DMA2200 Media Center Extender and connected to my Vista Ultimate PC. I can watch blu-ray rip mkv movies in my pc (both media player and media center) but not in DMA2200. I have upgraded the firmware to 1.1.12.

Is there any way to watch H264 movies? Because I have read that DMA2200 support H264.

Your help will be appreciated.

Many Thanks

Hi,

Based on this linksys article, the DMA2200 does not indicate support for the MKV container . Try converting it to H.264 but with an AVI container.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

I'm sorry about that null link. I actually just searched these keywords on google.com "media container wiki" and its the first article on the list. Try checking this website for the video converter application.

Cheers.

Re: DMA2200 H264 Support

I got my DMA 2200 to play H264 files using the m4v container. You can create them with e.g. Handbreak. It offers multiple sub and audio streams. I have the CCCP installed on my Vista Pro.

Unfortunately though I can't choose between the sub and audio streams in my DMA 2200.  I've tried a lot of things but never got my DMA to play MKV.

Hope this info helps.

Hi, I am having this same problem with my Blu-Ray conversions (that play absolutely fine win WMC and WMP directly on the PC). I've tried MKV, MP4, VidX, WMV3, lowering the quality to 20k, 1q9k...nothing seems to work. The DMA2200 chokes on everything whether it is via wireless or wired. The WMV3 had the best playback, but it eventually chokes at about the 1:30 mark. I updated the firmware and it is not my router or my PC (quad core) causing the bottleneck. The MP4 in an ANVi solution doesn't work because the program I use to rip and convert (PavTube) only supports 5.1 audio in Divx, XviD, MP4 and WMV formats and I want to keep the audio intact. When it plays it is stunning, but none of my BD collection will play without stuttering. I can stream HD via wireless without issue. Any ideas? I also don't want to scale my BD movies down to 1280X720 as I'd like to keep as much of that BD goodness as possible (can't save the DTS soundtracks, unfortunately). Any help greatly appreciated. I tried Handbrake, but it doesn't support BD discs.
