Re: WMB54G Music Bridge - SETUP TUTORIAL

Hi JB,

Awesome turtorial.  Had I had it when I was setting up my bidge, I would probably have saved myself a good 2 days....

Quick question for you (and the forum) -- I have the Utility installed on 2 PCs. My main desktop is running it fine with no issues. On my Dell Laptop, the utility works and I'm able to use it ok, except for the fact that I can only see half the application... It almost looks as though the application is made for a certain screen resultion, so 1/4 of the "image" is gone. I haven't tried yet changing the resolution on it, but I've never really changed the default on my laptop.... So I cannot really use the functions and other features on the "dashboard" but need to go down to the taskbar and connect and use the volume control from there (which means I cannot use any of the equalizer features here).

I've tried to de-install / re-install several times. Even downloaded the utility again from Linksys.

Has anyone seen this?

Regards,
Jan

Re: WMB54G Music Bridge - SETUP TUTORIAL

The same thing was happening to me. I fixed it by changing my font resolution (DPI setting) in the Display Properties window ("settings" tab, then "advanced" button) to "Normal (96 DPI)". I have a widescreen Dell laptop, so I had the DPI setting bumped up a bit since the eyes aren't what they used to be. I'll just have to get stronger glasses, I guess...

Re: WMB54G Music Bridge - SETUP TUTORIAL

I have tried the Setup Tutorial many times but with no luck.  I can't figure what I'm doing wrong.  I opened up my router (Linksys) to 253 allowed IPs and started them at 192.168.1.2 and I've tried to set my bridge IP to everything from .5 to .210 but i get no connection through the utility.  I've even tried to use an ethernet cable directly from the router and still nothing.  WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING WRONG??  I can view my bridge through the browser page, so I am communicating.  To top it all, my bridge worked perfectly for about two hours, then it stopped communicating, I took it back and got another one and it doesn't connect at all with the utility..  Any thoughts??

Re: WMB54G Music Bridge - SETUP TUTORIAL

First, what model is your router?   Does it have the latest firmware loaded?

Is security or MAC address filtering set up in the router?

What IP address are you entering that you can see the WMB?  If you can see the WMB via it's web page and are using a fixed IP address for it (vs. DHCP), it may not show up in the router's local users view, even though it's recognized.

Re: WMB54G Music Bridge - SETUP TUTORIAL

Sorry to ask for so much info, but need it to help out.

Do you have security enabled on your router?

The WMB has two IP addresses - one if it's hardwired (lan cable from router to WMB), and one for wireless.   I assume the wireless one is .120?

Do you have a lan cable hooked up between your WMB and router?  Just checking.

Re: WMB54G Music Bridge - SETUP TUTORIAL

Yes the security is enabled now.  I disabled it at one point but it didn't make a differrence so I reenabled it.  I'm assuming the IP address on the first page is for the wireless address.  It is 192.168.1.120.  I've tried many different addresses and I can't get any one of them to make a difference.  Also, I enabled the MAC filtering on the router and the MAC address for the bridge is listed there (00:16:B6:56:1D:89) but I still can't connect.

Thanks again for your help.
