Re: WMB54G Music Bridge - SETUP TUTORIAL

OK.  I need to look up something, but it's best to test everything out with security disabled and mac address filtering off.  then, turn them back on one by one to see what's causing the problem.   By the way, this also includes WEP or WPA security on the wireless side.

Re: WMB54G Music Bridge - SETUP TUTORIAL

Well, here's my latest update on the WMB......   IT WORKS!!!  I finally unistalled the utility, reset my computer, then reinstalled the utility and the music bridge popped up on the utility list without even doing a search.  HOO-FRIGGING-RAY!!  I've used it all day today, connecting and disconnectng, and all is well *knocking on wood*.  One thing strange tho.  I connected to Napster, played some songs, connected to XM Radio, played some more songs, then went back to Napster and the music would only play through my computer speakers.  I tried disconnecting the music bridge and reconnecting but it didn't fix the problem.  I could go back to XM and and the music would play through the music bridge.  I finally reset the computer and all is well again on Napster.  Oh well, not bad for now I guess.  Thanks to all who helped me through my delima.

Re: WMB54G Music Bridge - SETUP TUTORIAL

Good for you!   I just found something in another email chain to try for mine.
What you're probably seeing is reported a lot.    The next time it happens, go into Control Panel, Sounds and Audio, Volume, Advanced, Options, Properties and see if C-Media Wi-Sonic Wireless Audio driver is still selected.  If it is, simply click the drop down and select your standard audio driver

Lawnboy, I do appreciate all your help.  Thanks for taking the time to try and solve these problems.  I never had any problems solved by Linksys what-so-ever.  Also, thanks to josephb's tutorial and everyone that helped along the way. *still knocking on wood*

Re: WMB54G Music Bridge - SETUP TUTORIAL

I had a connection right out of the box. But then all broke lose when it only worked with my windows account and not my wife's. I played with it some and then lost all connectivity. I have the wrt54g router hard wired directly to my pc and the music bridge to my receiver.

I have since been able to get it to find the music bridge and connect to it again using the advice listed here but am now afraid to disconnect or try to get it to connect to my wife's windows account for fear of not being able to get it reconnected again.

I have gotten the business from my wife saying great all I can listen to is your Itunes account. I have since found some radio stations she may like to try to calm her down.

This would be a great item if it worked as easily as the instructions make it out to seem.

Hoping I stay connected.

Re: WMB54G Music Bridge - SETUP TUTORIAL

Hey, Brian, need more info to help.     You say you were able to connect your wife's pc to the bridge and then something happened and you lost all connectivity to the WMB.     Did you push the disconnect button on the utility on your wife's pc before you lost connectivity?

There is an option that says the first pc that connects is the only one that can use the utlity.   It's on the Information Tab of the utility.   I haven't tried to test this option to see what happens.

What model router?   WRT54G, WRT54GX?

Hey Lawnboy,

Thanks for the reply. So far everything is working great so no further help is needed. Me and my wife both use the same PC but initially it would not work with both of our windows accounts. It now works beautifully.

Thanks to this forum

Re: WMB54G Music Bridge - SETUP TUTORIAL

Joseph.....your thoughts, or anyone else's.  I've followed your setup to the point where you access the wmb setup to change the IP address.  I'm using a wired desk top with a dlink router.  Here's the rub.  I was using the MB just fine without the wireless security.  I know all of my neighbors, but in checking the log, I was accessed twice by someone I don't know.  So what do you do?  You secure your wireless network.  Well, now the wmb won't connect.  I reset the bridge and ran the setup through the router and matched the security settings.  I addes the two additional addys, and changed the static address of the desktop.  However, I get a message in IE that the address 192.168.1.210 cannot be found.  I've tried several different things, but am stuck.  Anybody got any ideas???
