Re: Home Network Defender MESS !!!

Can you private message me your Router SN and HND license.  I will look up to see what account email address is associated to it.

FIXED -> Home Network Defender MESS !!!

[ Edited ]
Uniinstalled LELA and downloaded and installed Network Magic 5.5 trial.  Fixed HND... Able to login and change settings on HND.  HND now operates as intended for parental control and websites.

Re: Home Network Defender MESS !!!

Spencer...How do I uninstall HND? The install process insists that you either subscribe or take the 30-day trial; there is no 'No, thanks' button. So the install is arrogant. You can't find the app in Control Panel. Then, it blocks an ordinary site like 'FailBlog' arbitrarily. You have to hunt  the Network Magic app to navigate to where you can disable this unwanted app. It is unacceptable that this app bulldozes its way onto your PC and hides the uninstall. This is similar to the Symantec trick of renewing their unwanted subscriptions. Linksys should consider what has recently happened to Symantec. Symantec has been fined/penalized heavily for that behavior. Dell has been smacked for similar behavior with crapware. Linksys should first put a 'no, thanks' choice in the set-up process, and should send an e-mail to existing users with an apology, explaining how to unistall this. C'mon, this is 2010 already.

Re: Home Network Defender MESS !!!

I have the trial version of home network defender and it is blocking sites....even the state lottery!!!  I can't by pass the setting, find the program, or log in as none of my security information is matching.  I tried to retrieve password and it tells me I am entering the wrong id....then when I use the software id to retrieve information or change the setting it tells me I can't use a trial version serial number to sign in!!!  Help, I just want to check  my lottery number :smileysad:

Re: Home Network Defender MESS !!!

I agree with the HND mess!! I have had t"he exact same issues as all the above and found out when I wanted to check the lottery.  I can't find anywhere on Linksys or HDN info pages how to change the settings that came with the disc.  Along with that, my router quit connecting after 30days.  I reset everything-still couldn't connect..  I got so frustrated (thinking it's because they want me to purchase Network Magic in order for the router to communicate with any computer) that I went through the installation process on the disc all over.  Now the router connects to internet but the HND won't let me view the lottery numbers!!!!   On top of that, I know that in 30 days or so I'm going to have the SAME ISSUE ALL OVER AGAIN.  I went to the live chat on two pages and got "error on page" messages.  Where's the info?? Where's the help??   I'm returning this router to HhGregg this weekend.

Re: Home Network Defender MESS !!!

Just a comment.. I could not log in for a week but.. if you are interested.. when I worked through the problem the issue was related to a certificate error in the browser. You go to network magic, my account and internet explorer, or you other browser, gives you a certificate error when redirecting to the pure networks site. You click on the expired certificate and you are presented with a new one. You install this in the  trusted certificate root directory and the problem is solved. Network magic will then load the home network defender configuration screen.
