Re: How to turn off or disable the HND service

I too was surprised how this messed up by network and Internet experience. Like many of you, i could not find the on/off service. There were no instructions. To disable this service, here are the instructions:

* Connect the LAN cable from your computer to your router (same as what you did during installation)

* Go this URL (which will allow you to access the Setup manager:  http://192.168.1.1/

* Type in your admin password

* Go to the Admin tab - and click on RESTORE FACTORY defaults (note that the admin module will disappear on you which is fine)

* REINSTAL the software

* ENSURE you DO NOT select home defender

- this solves the problem - hope this helps

DISCLAIMER: this is what I did (based on my own experience - and following a tip from rwb1921 Thx rwb1921)

Re: How to turn off or disable the HND service

To clarify a little use your Cisco user and password not your Admin for your computer

Re: How to turn off or disable the HND service

After trying Home defender a bit it said wrong account... In short I have no access (password is ok but for wrong account). I have no idea what to do about the password. Resetting it all did not work (I set my WRT320N to factory defaults in software and with button on the router... no success. I uninstalled all software from Cisco: Then I had Ethernet but I could not reach any internet site at all! Probably some firewall setting but not from windows or mcAffee. So very very dissapointing... Luckily my old router worked (WRT54G) fine without any installing... but what to do with WRT320N?

Re: How to turn off or disable the HND service

Thank you very much. You ended a lot of frustration. I thought putting kid's toys together at Christmas was frustrating. After  this, bring em on. Thanks again.

Re: How to turn off or disable the HND service

That would be fantastic, if I could even find something that remotely looks like that. I would slide and click all of it off. Please tell me from the very beginning how to get to it. I hear that it's not calledHND on some things something with the word magic in it. Is this what I need to uninstall or whatever so I can get to websites that I want to?
