nmh405 raid help

I have a media hub nmh405 and was running a raid configuration , it was working fine until a week ago and the raid became degraded  .

I have started the raid rebuild and everything was looking fine , but due to there being approximately 1.7 GB of data I have left it running for days and checked back periodical.

However last night I checked the raid sync percentage and it was is reading at 58% and after leaving it to run all night I checked again this morning and the raid sync had reduced to just 10%

does anybody know why the raid rebuild has decreased and how to sort the problem

thanks in advance

Re: nmh405 raid help

I think you're on raid1 right? Try to check if which harddrive is still being detected by the mediahub. If you were now able to find the working HD then you need to backup the file then connect the non working HD to bay1 then revert to single disk mode. You can also check this link for more information: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=c3031190c23242feb7f164a30eb6a8c8_17342.xml&pid=80&....

Re: nmh405 raid help

Hi seasik,

I`m just curius, which hdd got defective? If hdd B, got busted then you just need to remove hdd A from slot A, place the new hdd on slot b and boot up the device. Login to the setup page and under disk, select revert to single disk mode. Make sure that the hdd is one of their test list and if you are going to use a replacement hdd, delete all partitions from it. Once done, you can now place hdd a to slot a and boot up the device. Supposedly, the rebuild process should be automatic since hdd b is just mirroring whats on hdd a. Now, if hdd a, got defective then you can do the same steps but you need to manually rebuild the raid.

I`m honestly unsure why the rebuild progress went back to 10% form 25% but perhaps, you could do a hard reset on the device and update the firmware first before attempting to rebuild the raid.

Cheers`
