Well , it does matter.  Why ? because the first time that the Valet was installed , it was installed bt the technical support people from my ISP cable company and they had this blue cord connected on here.  When I had to reformat my computer , I lost the Valet installation and am putting it all back again.  My settings were still there. My Valet name and password was still there and when I reinstalled it , it recognized it.  But , I have not connected the blue cord because I see no where to connect it or even that it is needed.

I am concerned because my ISPprovider support tem had it connected to something and I do not.

If there's already an existing cable connected from your wall to the valet, no need to use the blue cable anymore. You can keep that and maybe use that if you have other devices that needs to be connected wired to your valet.

Re: I cannot connect to wi-fi when the blue cable is unplugged......

My Fiber Optic Cable comes straight through my wall.  It is an ethernet cable.  That is what I have connected into the ethernet orange color receptical  on the back of my router.  That cord and the white power cord.  That is all I have connected.

Since the Blue ethernet cord was also connected  at one time  , I thought I had done something wrong..

Anyway , thanks for all your help.  I guess I am good to go as I am on the internet.  Have no way to check to see if my wireless is working for a laptop since I don't have one yet.

WAN port is the Internet Port and LAN port is the Ethernet Port.

Glad to be of help! :smileyvery-happy: You can try checking the wireless connection using other wireless devices like a smart phone or a tablet.

Re: I cannot connect to wi-fi when the blue cable is unplugged......

Still don't know the difference between a lan and a wan.  my ethernet from my fiber cable is plugged into the Ethernet orange on my router.  So that is my internet.  would this be lan or wan.  which ever it is , where is the other one.

I told you all I was a dummy with this and believe me that was no joke lol.
