Network Magic and a Network Printer

Hi everyone.  I have a networked printer (Cabled, not wireless) and Network Magic (5.5.9195.0-Pure0) is showing this device as something totally different.  See screenshot.  The information being reflected is for a laptop that I previously owned.  The IP address is newly assigned (was not used in the past).  The printer is a Photosmart Premium printer.  I tried to edit the NETWORKLIB.XML file (the entry does disappear) but the wrong information still appears in the network map.

Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

Re: Network Magic and a Network Printer

Rename it your self and hope for the best.  NM isn't the best at guessing what device it is.  No big deal.

True, I can rename it - I did change it to HP Printer.  The issue is that all the "detected" information (computer name, OS, etc) is all wrong.

You may be right that it is no big deal, but to me it is a flaw in the application.

looks like the network map may have been unable to remove your old computer's information from the network and mistakenly assigned it to the printer. to correct network map issues, check out this article on cisco's knowledge base: Article ID: 19407.

Re: Network Magic and a Network Printer

you mentioned that you tried to edit the NETWORKLIB.XML file how did you do it? How many computers are using network magic? I have encountered this before wherein the network map will not sure the devices correctly.

Try the link below but once you are done doing the steps you need to turn off the computer and move on to the next until you finish doing the necessary steps. Once done with all the computers reboot the router and then turn on your computers one by one to see if that will help resolve the issue.
