Re: Problem Accessing Router

Hi TheVoyager,

Some routers are limited in that they can only support one web administration session at a time -- Netgears are the first that come to mind.  You can see this problem in the absence of any software just by attempting log in (i.e. http://192.168.1.1) from two different PCs at the same time.  You'll get an error that the first PC is already administering the router.

This does make things challenging for Network Magic, particularly when you have multiple PCs, but a lot of design has gone into making sure that Network Magic logs out of the router when it has finished checking any details it needs to check, and making sure that mulitple PCs aren't all doing the same thing.  I suspect that adding on the other application you are working with just pushed the inherit limitation too far.

The issues you are seeing with Wireless Protection incorrectly reporting details are likely a result of not being able to log in - they are the result rather than the cause of the issue.  Unfortunately I don't have a solution for you, short of trying to limit the number of PCs running either software package at one time, or trying another brand of router.

Thanks,

BillT

Hi Bill,
Thanks, BUT unfortunately I am restricted officially to using the provided router by Sky's User agreement. :-(
I have now got NM loaded onto all 3 machines still without any problems [BSR still not being started up].
I will say though that the problem has only occurred since v5 and maybe the last of v4 (4.9?) before that, there was no problem
