nmctxth.exe - bad image

After a very long time of running NM with no problems, I started to get a dialog box that has    NMCTXTH.EXE - Bad Image in the header and the rest of the box is empty and the only thing that I can do is click on OK.   After this I have to reboot the system since nothing works well and it usually is hitting the rest button.

Re: nmctxth.exe - bad image

I read this explanation online: "nmctxth.exe is a Pure Networks Platform Assistant belonging to Network Magic from Pure Networks, Inc. Non-system processes like nmctxth.exe originate from software you installed on your system."

That's great, but network magic is part of Cisco, so any idea as to why it is failing????

Re: nmctxth.exe - bad image

based on the link provided probably it is a registry issue. You can also check on this link:http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=8571edab25b54432bfb7b7672a577b8f_19407.xml&pid=104..., this may help you.

Re: nmctxth.exe - bad image

[ Edited ]

I have been fighting this all day yesterday. I restored my PC back to 2 "restores" ago and was able to run my PC again for quite a while (my PC would become inoperable saying there were no 'systems resources' to do anything after this 'bad image' error msg popped up). Then, it started up AGAIN today. I had already run 2 different products to clean my registry. LIke the other poster, I had been using the same Cisco product that I had been using for at least a couple of years and never, ever saw this message until now.

PLEASE let me know if you find a working solution!! The link given by the representative didn't seem related to our problem.

Re: nmctxth.exe - bad image

p.s. I also did a defrag of my registry and that didn't help, either.

p.p.s. I think it's weird that 2 customers of this product both started getting this same problem on the same day. Very suspicious.

Re: nmctxth.exe - bad image

Hi,

Having many problems requiring a re-boot. The "Bad Image" error just started a few days ago... but not everything points to the nmctxth file...

Trying to figure out what changed in the last several days... only thing I can remember is that I installed a new version of AVAST Free...

Has anyone else?

Re: nmctxth.exe - bad image

Yes, I installed the latest/new version of Avast Free, too. **BUT**, can't remember if I installed it before or after my Image problem cropped up. I coincidentally did a re-install of AvastFree today (or it wanted me to finish the install after I opened up Avast?) and have not seen any weird image issues so far since then. But, the bad image message was only intermittent after my system restore anyway. So, the jury is still out.

If it happens again, I'm going to grab a "backup" copy of nmctxth.exe  and AVManagerUnified.dll from my son's PC which has been switched 'off' for at least 2-3 weeks.

btw, my full error msg was:

"nmctxth.exe - Bad Image" (in the TITLE of the error message; at the top, left of the pop-up)

"The application or DLL C:\Program Files\Common Files\PureNetworksShared\Platform\AVManagerUnified.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."  in the center of the same pop-up

Does this match the error msg that you received?

I have received a number of different error messages, not just related to nmctxth (first time about an hour ago) Basically the graphics would begin to do crazy things, desktop was all screwed up... messsages that certain files were not windows programs, etc never the same type of problem...

I uninstalled AVAST Free and installed MSE (Microsfot Essentials) and will just have to wait and see... did this about 1 hour ago...

I do know that I installed the new version of Avast prior to seeing these issues start to crop up...

Re: nmctxth.exe - bad image

Remembered (age-related) something else that pointed me toward AVAST as being a prime suspect... Each time I rebooted the AVAST screen came up requesting me to click FINISH to complete the install...

Just wanted to get that out there in case others come into the forum with similar problems
