Re: Nas 200

Maybe your firewall is timing out the process of transfer from your computer to NAS.

Elevate your Admin Previlages. What is your Windows 7 version?

Re: Nas 200

I have turned off the firewall....

So I have just finished reinstalling my OS, 7 Ultimate.

I reset the NAS and also setup again. I mapped a drive. No problem. Started copying files, again no problem.

I started to transfer a large amount of data and again it stopped and now when I try and copy any size file, it gives me the "you do not have permission" error.

Re: Nas 200

Elevate your admin previlages. Go to Control Panel > User Accounts > UAC then lower down the security level.

Re: Nas 200

Change the admin settings.

I think this is a windows 7 compatability thing.

AfterI had changed the admin privelages and restarted the computer, the NAS again allows me to copy a single file. I try multiple files and it then says I don't have permission. I try a single file again, nope, same error again.

Anybody use their NAS with Win 7 Ultimate, 64 BIT?

Re: Nas 200

I have two Win7/x64 machines in my network and a few XP machines, and they all use the NAS200. But I run my own firmware, plus changes to the Samba configuration (see the FAQ, question W3). The Samba configuration changes seem to alleviate some problems I had in the past with Win7.

Frequent NAS200 Answers:
1. DISABLE the "convert failed logins to guest logins" option to fix permission problems.
2. NEVER insert or remove hard disks while the power is on. NAS200 doesn't support hot swapping.
3. ALWAYS use the power button to turn the NAS200 off, don't just unplug it.
4. Don't trust RAID. Make BACKUPS!
5. To ACCESS the disks directly, you will need ext2 and/or XFS file systems. I recommend using SystemRescueCD.
6. Disks will get HOT with standard fan, use "green" disks or consider replacing the fan.
7. FTP server is insecure and doesn't work behind a NAT router. Use my firmware and SCP instead.
8. MY FIRMWARE supports SSH shell prompt and SCP for secure file access, and allows running other software.

Re: Nas 200

so bump from the dead...

I have installed the jac firmware and I can access the drive, map drives but cannot read or write to the drive.

gives me "do not have permission" error.

You're logged in as guest. See #1 below.

Re: Nas 200

so just reset the NAs and tried again. No luck still says I need permission to copy to the drive.
