The following is an informational post, good help is hard to find (I almost returned to the store.) ![]()
I purchased the Linksys RE1000 Wireless-N Range Extender on 11/12/2011. When running the setup CD that came in the box on my iMac with Mac OS X Lion 10.7 I received the following message:
Unsupported operating system
The Linksys Range Extender setup software supports these operating systems:
- Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later
- Mac OS X 10.5.1 or later
For support information on other versions of Mac OS X, visit:
http://homesupport.cisco.com/linksys/support
From there I clicked on 'Get Linksys Support'
http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/linksys
Then choose:
RE1000
Wireless-N Range Extender/Bridge
Then click on 'Downloads' tab
At left look for
Cisco Connect Setup Software for Mac
07/21/2011
Ver.1.1.11201.0
Download and run this version to set up your extender.
If these options aren't available to you be sure to register on the site and then register your product.

yup... RE1000 is not compatible with the Lion OS. AFAIK, only a few linksys routers are compatible with OS Lion. So, I guess you'll have to configure your RE1000 with another PC

Actually the RE1000 is compatible with Lion, but you can't use the CD that came in the box for setup. You need to download the latest Mac setup file from the linksys site as described above.

Hi,
I suggest you manually configure the extender instead.
