Firmware SPA-942 5.2.5 Upgrade Fails

Hi, I`m new here. Yesterday arrived my new SPA-942 with Wireless-G Bridge. Everything works perfect but when I tried to upgrade to version 5.2.5 from current 5.1.5a it fails.I execute file and then continue. After that it shows me pop-up with message to write down my IP and under this is "Your IP is 192.-..-..-.6." I got confused becasue my phone IP is not "6" at the end but "3". Anyway I tried both way and always fial. I receive following message after I click "OK": "Upgrade Failed: No Response From SPA" What does it mean? How can I upgrade it? Bear in mind that I`m connected through Linksys Wireless-G Bridge. I think it should make any difference with direct connection to LAN or Wireless. Has anybody any idea. Thanks For any help

I would unplug the power from both devices and let them reboot. Then press the menu button on the SPA942 and the 9 key. This will get you the IP address of the phone. When you run the executable enter the IP address in the blank line above the OK and Cancel buttons. The IP listed below the buttons is the IP address of the PC you are using. Click OK and it should connect, showing the currrent version of firmware on the phone and ask if you want to continue.

dkaufman Thank You for your reply. I did exactly what you wrote and still no success. Got the same message. My setting in "Provisioning" is fine and upgrade is enabled. I also found some forum where people saying about a lot of problems with 5.2.5 and advised to download from Czech Linksys website v5.2.5a Is this different? I tried too but the same problem occurs. There is also .bin file but cannot execute it. What else can I do to make this work? Thank You again

It is not advisable to do a firmware upgrade wirelessly, wire the SPA942 to your network via Ethernet. Try the upgrade again and ensure that there are no firewall software running on the computer that could be blocking the upgrade process.

timecrisis thank you for reply. Unfortunately, it didn`t help. Still the same pop-up message "Upgrade Failed: No response From SPA" I have no idea what to do. Wirelessly not good, through Ethernet not good. I rebooted and tried again, but still didn`t work. Is there any way to upgrade it? Why it happens like this? Thanks for any help

hi! i read somewhere (i forgot where exactly) that someone who is having the same problem tried connecting his computer directly to the SPA942 (PC port) solved his cocern -- SPA942's WAN port is still connected to the router of course ...

Thank You for your reply. I was thinking about it, but didn`t try it. I will do this tomorrow (now is almost midnight in Japan) and post here results so others with the same problem can find it.

By the way, is it worth to upgrade? I read forums where people had more problems than before that and advsed to get from Chech Linksys website v5.2.5a which probably works perfect. Any advice on this issue?

if there's really nothing wrong with your device i don't suggest doing the upgrade...you might have read in other posts here in the forum that the volume of speaker has been affected by the latest firmware..it was considerably lowered to fix the half-duplex speaker phone...you can check the link below:

I couldn`t upgrade anyway. I tried all possible ways and finally gave up. After your post here I decided to leave my device as it is, because it works perfect with my Gizmo CallIn and PoivY.com. Anyway if there is good firmeware in the future I may still have the same issue with upgrade. I have no idea what to do. Yesterday I conected direct to PC and it couldn`t find network (LAN PC to 942 PC conected) Then I tried another way and was searching and searching for DNS. Finally my full network was down. Gave Up at the moment
