SPA-3102 and WRT610n not playing nice

Okay, situation is as such, got an spa-3102 for voip because I wanted to recieve incoming calls from the landline however I can not get the device to work either behind my 610n of between the 610n and the modem.

What is happening is that if I set the spa-3102 up behind the router, as I have my other pap2T,  the spa-3102 will not get a DHCP address and the internet port will not light up.

If I set the SPA-3102 up between the 610n and the modem I will get internet on the SPA-3102 but the 610n will not get a DHCP address and the enthernet port will not light up.

Finally if I plug the SPA-3102 into my modem and then directly into my PC eveything will work fine.

Any ideas?

Re: SPA-3102 and WRT610n not playing nice

How about setting the router (SPA3102 / WRT160N) on static IP in the Internet Setup. There should be no issues cascading both router although I would suggest changing the deaulft LAN IP of the secondary router.\

Hope this helps!

Re: SPA-3102 and WRT610n not playing nice

Tried setting a static IP on the SPA-3102 but no dice, there seems to be an issues with comms between the port on the SPA and the ports on the WRT610N.

Tried different cables, tried different ports, nothing works thus far

Re: SPA-3102 and WRT610n not playing nice

As what I know, the WAN or Internet ort of the Linksys devices are not smart ports meaning it doesn’t have the capability to switch over from Cross-over or Stright through type of connection. Check if the cables you might have tried are the same type of cable classification. If so, try to purchase the opposite cable classification.

Another cause of problem why the Wan port is not light it is that the current flowing through the said port is strong thus negating the connection. A work around for this is to use a longer cable about 50 to 60 ft long or use a hub or switch in between the two routers.
