PLTE200 - PLTS200 DHCP

Good morning from Greece,

I own for about 3 years the PLTE200 / PLTS200 Powerline Kit. In average, it is one of the best buys i have ever made. But there is a major problem which i hope you can help me.

My modem is a D-Link DSL 320T and i have enabled the DHCP setting from it's web page. But anytime i connect a laptop to the PLTS200 (4port adapter) i get an error of ip conflict. I can't understand why is this happening. The only way to have internet access both my desktop pc and the laptop is to set manually the ip addresses, dns server and default gateway to both pc's.

Using Windows 7 Professional x64

Any help would be appreciated!

Who provided those IP address to the computer? Let me know the manual IP address provided to the computer? Try to remove those IP address from the computer and then check the connectivity.

Maybe the image above from my router's web page can be more helpful.

When i connect a laptop for example to the PLTS200 (4port) i get the error of ip conflict.

So i set manually for my desktop pc:

IP: 192.168.1.2

Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

DNS: 194.177.210.10

And for my laptop:

IP: 192.168.1.8

Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

DNS: 194.177.210.10

The ip number it self, doesn't really matters. Any number between 1-254 would be ok but the problem here is why is this happening,,,

Re: PLTE200 - PLTS200 DHCP

What happens if you directly connect your computers to the D-Link router? Do these computers get the IP address automatically and do you still get the "Ip address conflict" error?

What I can think of is that you have set an IP addres manually on one of your computers and without removing it, connect the computer to the adapter. The router tries to assign an IP address to this new computer but since this IP address is already assigned to a computer, it gives you an error of IP address conflict. I would suggest to remove all the static IP addresses before connecting to the adapter and see if that helps?

Re: PLTE200 - PLTS200 DHCP

I always set my computers to obtain automatically ip adresses. Although i have enabled the dhcp setting at the D-Link router and checked the setting to obtain automatically ip's, error was there.

Finally, i replaced my router with the Netgear DGN2200 and problem solved. DHCP is enabled and no more ip conflict errors.
