BEFSR81 crashes when accessing amazon.com

I am experiencing loss of internet access when browsing to amazon.com.  In addition to losing internet access, I am unable to connect to my BEFSR81 router when this happens.  To resolve I have to walk over to my router and reset it by cycling the power.

This issue has been reported by other users of the BEFSR81 too: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic314804.html

Linksys, please investigate and advise.

Details: My BEFSR81 is version 3.0 and is running firmware version 2.51.4

I am having the same problem...losing my Internet connection on all networked computers if any one accesses amazon.com.  I have a BEFSR81 v.3 running 2.51.4.

Re: BEFSR81 crashes when accessing amazon.com

Open the router setup page and Under the Setup tab, reduce the MTU to 1350 and save settings..Power cycle the router and check.

Re: BEFSR81 crashes when accessing amazon.com

I tried the recommended change to settings (reduce MTU to 1350) and am still experiencing the problem. BTW, the previous MTU setting in my router was 1492. Suspect that you are suggesting this change because there is a buffer overrun somewhere in the router code. Perhaps a lower value would work. -Scott

Re: BEFSR81 crashes when accessing amazon.com

I would suggest you to upgrade/re-flash the firmware on your Linksys router. Once the Upgrade is done press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

Re: BEFSR81 crashes when accessing amazon.com

Why would you suggest I upgrade the firmware?  From checking the Linksys support page, I have the latest firmware.

Regarding reseting my router to factory settings, I guess it is possible that one of my routers settings is exposing this problem, but I am not sure I want to go through all the time and effort to trouble shoot this.  It would seem like a pretty straightforward issue for an engineer at Linksys to diagnose.

Re: BEFSR81 crashes when accessing amazon.com

Sometimes reflashing the same firmware on the router resolve many issues. So try to reflash the firmware of your router. After reflashing the firmware, reset the router and re-configure the router from scratch.Now,check.

Re: BEFSR81 crashes when accessing amazon.com

Castor, I appreciate that you are trying to help.  I do not have time to spend going through experiments to see if they will resolve the issue.  I seriously doubt that reflaching the firmware in my router with the same version that is already installed will resolve the problem.  Keep in mind that the router is working fine for other sites, and I have not changed any settings, parameters, or flash in months.

I am disappointed that there has been no response from Linksys on this issue.

Does anybody have suggestions for a higher quality DSL router for my home network?

Thanks!

Re: BEFSR81 crashes when accessing amazon.com

Just tried accessing amazon.com, and it is no longer causing the router to crash.  I guess the issue will remain a mystery.
