Re: BEFSX41 to BEFSX41 VPN (point to point) How to?

you have two VPN routers but dont know how to operate them? hmmm

I would start by looking at help screen in the VPN page.

or here:

http://www.linksysdata.com/ui/BEFSX41/1.52.5/Security-VPN-Help.htm

then start reading routerworld to have an understanding of VPNs vefore you even attempt a VPN connection.

have you looked at the Routers manual yet?

you can't do it that way.  You need a VPN host router.

Yes, you can use 2 BEFSX41 routers to create a VPN.
Select your proper remote and local IP ranges and the authentication methods on either end.
I agree that you should take a few minutes and understand the help pages and the basics of VPN technology.

Re: BEFSX41 to BEFSX41 VPN (point to point) How to?

I've got my two BEFSX41 routers configured that I want to connect to each other over the Internet using VPN. Each are reachable on the Internet at their own domains. We will call them:

routerone.mydomain.com and routertwo.mydomain.com

The Linksys VPN administration page won't allow me to enter these domain names in the Fully-Qualified Domain field. I can only do something like

myfirstdomain.com and myseconddomain.com

In short, it's not allowing subdomains.

Is this a VPN requirement or is this a Linksys bug?

Thanks,

Ian

Just came across this.  Ian, use dyndns host names for your IP addresses instead of subdomains and it should resolve the IP just fine.
