When I enter the linkskys router ip address, http://192.168.1.1 on my browser it says page not found. What does this mean?

Re: My router's ip address won't work

What router are you talking about? Model and version, please.

Internet Explorer? The error message is at the bottom of the page.

Can you ping the router? (Command prompt window, type "ping 192.168.1.1")

What is your IP and netmask of the computer connected? (command "ipconfig /all", post the result)

Re: My router's ip address won't work

Unplug your router from everything. Only connect a computer to a numbered LAN port. Try the ping again, please. If it is not working, try a factory reset (pressing reset for 30 seconds) and afterwards powercycle and try once more.

Re: My router's ip address won't work

I have the same problem, factory reset and powerup did not fix it
the router is a BEFSR41
brand new, just tried to use it

the ping fails

i have a green light on ethernet, i varified the cable works (my laptop can connect over the cable and see my tower)

does the wan plug have to be in for the ip 192.168.1.1 to be active?
I've tried it this way to remove a variable

Hey cobia, when you say your laptop can see your tower, how did you connect them? Are you using a direct connection?
