Ok well gonna have a stab at answering my own question, perhaps you guys can tell me if im on the right lines... The WAN connection of the BEFSR41 seems to be 10 meg full duplex....does that mean 5 meg each way?
Which converted to Kilobytes and compensating for packet handling and overhead would be.....ahhh crap... Is that whats going on? Ive hit the limits of the router?
I use zonealarm, no effect closing this down, ive payed withteh MTU using the various tweak tools.... nothing else out of the orindary to declare..
Oh and firmware is 1.43, Sep 04 2002... i know this is a lil out of date... might give that a try a bit later on (and especailly if you guys think it will help)
Any thoughts appreciated
PS if the router is maxed out, any suggestions on a replacement model?

Hmmm sorry if that sounded flippant or ungratefull, i really appreaciate your assistance, and any ideas are good ideas. As per my previous posts i bleive i know the answer, i would really like to know if ive maxed out my router, before playing around with things too much
I have tried several MTU (and RWIN) settings including 1500 (which it was at default) Auto and also a few others that i basically just hacked and slashed at using various tools which made no differance... Im now back at windows default, and MTU 1500. Problem still persists though. I dont think that is the issue anyway, as when i remove the router from the equation it works fine!
Do you know if i have hit the maximum limit of the router? Ive kinda convinced myslef that is what is happening. I know it will work upto 100 mbit on LAN... but if the WAN port is full duplex and 10mbit that would explain it right?
If the answer is no, then i would be interested to know WHY the answer is no. Willing to give anything a try but i fear it may all be in vain!
Many thanks for your help so far.

And that could be the source of the problem? The router will not run any faster?
I dont understand why noone else is having this problem, thats why im asking the question. The befsr41 is probally the best selling router
Many thanks for your assitance
