Hi, I am trying to install a new AE1000 wireless usb adapter on a Windows7 machine. At step 4 (plug in adapter), it just hangs and waits forever. The option to continue does never becomes available. I've tried it over an over again plugging with and without the cord/base, and on all the usb ports. I've also tried on another Win7 machine, and 2 XP machines with the same problem.
I've also tried to scan for new hardware changes or to look into the Device Manager to see if the computers pick up the device if I just plug it in, but there is no sign that it even exists as an unknown device or new hardware. Usually when you plug in a usb device there should be some sign or indicator that something new has been plugged in right? Is there some kind of LED light on the device that is supposed to light up when plugged in? Is the device a dead one?
Thank you for any help!

Never mind, fixed the problem:
Exchanged the adapter at Bestbuy for another one. New one installs and is recognized immediately after being plugged in. There is a blue LED which also comes on. Old one was a dead unit.
