WPC54GX won't install on Windows 2000 Notebook

I installed Windows 2000 on an older Dell Latitude (too slow for the XP that was on it).  The WPC54GX worked fine on XP, but I haven't been able to install the drivers in Win2k.  The driver installs and Windows finds it when I plug the adapter in, but the Linksys tray monitor doesn't show in the tray - just the standard windows network icon that displays "Network Cable Unplugged".  I can't find where the WLAN monitor installed anywhere on the hard drive.

I've tried every trick I know & I'm stumped on this one.  I'd really appreciate any help I can get!

I found the problem - the .msi installer in the driver setup won't run on windows 2k SP2 - once I installed SP4 the installer worked fine
