So I bought the WUSB54GC wireless adapter today. My computer's OS is Windows XP Professional. Whenever I load the disk and click "Start Setup" a window pops up that says "This version of Windows in not supported." Does anybody know if there's a way to fix this with a driver or something?

Having the same problem with this..
When I insert the USB cable into the PC as instucted by the install It does a reboot to XP until removed..
Happens on more then one machine..
Has worked on the pc before
Have done Fresh XP install and/or new USB cable as well..
All HW is within spec (ie Intel p4/ 2.5 at 1 gig ram etc).
Anyone help me on this one? Thanks!

According to the scenario if you connect the adapter directly to the computer then does it happens the same issue? Did you try to connect the USB cable to any other computer with different windows?

If are using the CD to install the wireless USB adapter then instead of doing that you can download the drivers for the Linksys/Cisco website or can download it from the following link: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/adapter
# Click on Start --> Run and in the run box type "devmgmt.msc" and click Ok...
# Device manager window will appear and in that check for the Linksys adapter.. Right-click on the name of the Adapter that you want to install and click Update Driver Software…
# A window will appear asking “How do you want to search for the driver software?".. Click “Browse my computer for driver software"..
# Select the option “Search for driver software in this location “then click on Browse..
# Select the driver that you Downloaded and click on next button...

I have desktop with an OS Windows XP Pro Sp3 and I had a linksys wireless USB adapter WUSB54GC for years and running from an upstairs connection to Verizon Broadband westell 75000. All of a sudden I got this cascade of Application messages"Exception GIFException in module aviWUSB54GC.dll at 000252AF"
After doing the forum suggestions to fix in safe mode by uninstall/reinstall etc with no resolution. If I tried to uninstall it It would not uninstall , from program uninstall option, control panel or device manager or with or without CD. If I manually pull the adapter and then delete from device mgr it just cuts off internet access. Then I have to put back in and do a system restore. I would still get redundancy messages and they were all deny type. (too many to list) so I call linksys, now Cisco linksys and the guy says buy a new adapter to accommodate hi speeds (?) So I buy and install an AE12000. I get it to run easily and get access but it wont show up in programs list or on control panel but the old adapter does and I still get those original application messages. I call Linksys/Cisco again and get a denial of the first techs claim and a run around finally being transferred to a pay service to fix issues. This is poor but I am stuck and if anybody has a solution I would be grateful.
Thanks

If AE1200 won't show up in device manager and in control panel and it's only showing up the WUSB54GC adapter, it's possible that the computer didn't uninstall the drivers of the wusb54gc properly. For this problem, you may try downloading cleanup utility from the web, run it on your computer and make sure that you remove wusb43gc on the list.
