I am curious of how to set a frewall on my Linksys Wireless router. I live in an apartment building, and it seems if my neighbors are getting on the internet through my wireless router. Due to this, I find my connection VERY SLOW at times.
I need to know how to set a firewall so my neighbors CANNOT access the internet through my router.
If you've installed a software firewall, or you're using the Windows XP SP2 firewall, you'll have to disable a router's firewall. This is one case in which "the more the merrier" doesn't work. If you haven't installed Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Windows XP, turn off the Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) and either install a software firewall program or use a router with a firewall feature, as discussed previously. To turn off ICF, follow these steps: 1. Choose Start --> Control Panel --> Network and Internet Connections --> Network Connections. The Network Connections folder opens, displaying an icon or listing for your Internet connection(s). 2. Right-click the Local Area Network Connection, and choose Properties. The Properties dialog box for your connection opens. 3. Click the Advanced tab, and deselect the option to use ICF.
