192.68.1.1 not working

In the properties of your wireless card, then properties of TCP/IP is where you'd setup the IP info.  You can set it to obtain automatically, and set the DNS the same.  Reboot laptop and see if it works now.

It was originally set to "automatically" but it still wasn't connecting. It seemed to "connect" once I manually input the IP address, DNS #'s and all, but still never really connected. When I changed the physical address on the 192.68.1.1 server to match was main PC I lose my connection on the main PC. However, the physical address listed already on the 192.68.1.1 server is the one on my laptop. This is just madness . . and to think I actually wanted to be a computer geek. . I am so far from it .

Leave the address at 192.168.1.1 on the router.  Change it on your laptop to another #, say 192.168.1.2.  Make sure you desktop is set to something different as well, like 192.168.1.3.  The gateway for both pc's will be the router, 192.168.1.1 and DNS #'s can all be the same as what the router has.

Ok, you are not going to believe this. But I logged into 192.168.1.1 and hit the "Reset Securty" button and the system setup a new secured connection automatic. .it went right to the laptop with the same SSID information, it shows I'm connected. . and I still cannot get online. . I GIVE UP!
