Application name for port forwarding.

I am trying to use Remote Desktop. I have read and understand the procedure to forward port 3389 TCP to my local computer ip address.

I have deselected the box next to Block Anonymous Internet Requests.

I have tested Remote Desktop on my LAN and it works. I can't get it to work from outside the router.

I have turned off all firewall protection.

I have a feeling that I'm not entering the Application Name correctly in the port forwarding area. I ran into this dilema with vnc as well.

Here are my questions:

- When entering a name for an application what do you use? The name that you see in Windows Explorer or the name of the service that runs? (ie: WinVNC or UltraVNC or vnc.exe ... mstsc or RemoteDesktop or Remote Desktop

- I can't type out RemoteDesktop in the Applications area because it's too long. The field cuts off the final "p" .

Thank you for your help.

Re: Application name for port forwarding.

ensure that the router has the latest firmware on it..and the firewall needs to be turned off at both the ends...also , the internet ip address has to be a public ip address ..
