can you please tell me? what is the benefit of changing the LAN IP Address from the default 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.5.1?

So it would not have an IP address conflict? Apparently the Zyxel is on the same range...or maybe it would be better on 192.168.2.1? Just as long as it's out of range... :robotwink:

Thank you thank you thank you everyone for your assistance!  The laptop is working and so is the main computer...I really appreciate the help...this is an awesome forum!:smileyvery-happy::smileyhappy:
BTW I followed the directions on the download page and upgraded my firmware...

Yeah, a good question.
The original poster already mentioned that the router is on PPPoE, so in effect there isn't a 192.168.1.0 network ahead of the router anymore.
