When I (my IP: 68.109.xxx.xxx) use the Linksys router Befw11s4 v.2, it cuts the cox cable broadband speed to my PC by half. I used to blame Cox cable - then I tested download speed direct from the router to my PC, then with the router in place. The bottleneck is the router (it is suppose to be 11MBps).
With Linksys Router :
Last Result: Download Speed: 7788 kbps (973.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 510 kbps (63.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
MySpeed Results Download 5,061,136 bps Upload 487,720 bps
Then when I by-pass the Linksys router and plug the cable router direct to my PC the download speed increased 2+ times:
Last Result: Download Speed: 12781 kbps (1597.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 514 kbps (64.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
MySpeed Results Download 15,979,888 bps Upload 487,344 bps
I have the latest firmware - I have moved the cable router and Linksys router 3 feet apart to eliminate 'noise' - The 800 Linksys tech support - told me that 'no router would go 12781 kbps' then concluded since my BEFW11S4 v.2 was out of 'warranty' I should not expect it to go the "Promised 11MBps" on the box.
When the BEFW11S4 v.2 is plugged in my speed gets 5 - 7 Mbps when I bypass the router my PC gets the 10 - 12 MBps I am paying for
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
