E1200 firmware upgrade fails

[ Edited ]

I am trying to upgrade the firmware on my Linksys v1 router from 1.0.02 to 1.0.03 over a remote 56Kb circuit.

I appear to be having a timeout problem.  The upgrade always fails.  I have upgraded several E1200s in my

office over ethernet, and the upgrade appears to finish when the progress bar is at 15%.  However, on my

remote upgrade, the progress bar gets to 98%, hangs for a few more seconds, and then pops up a window

with "Upgrade failed".

I suspect that there is a timeout on the upgrade process, and that I can't upload the 3.8 MB firmware file fast

enough.  Can anyone confirm this?  If so, is there any way to increase the upgrade timeout?

Re: E1200 firmware upgrade fails

Before upgrading the firmware of your router, your computer must have an active Internet connection to download the firmware file.  Once the firmware is downloaded, you can proceed with the firmware upgrade even without Internet connection.

QUICK TIPS:

  • For stable connectivity and to prevent upgrade failures, make sure that your computer is connected to the router using an Ethernet cable.  Upgrading the firmware wirelessly may cause permanent damage to the router since wireless connection may be unstable during the process.
  •  Use a different web browser if Internet Explorer doesn’t work or use a different computer to perform the upgrade.
  • Disable any computer firewall to ensure that the upgrade will not be disrupted.
  •  Make sure that you have downloaded the correct firmware and version for your device to prevent technical problems that may damage the router.

Re: E1200 firmware upgrade fails

please, help.
Bought E1200 v2, but there is a strange thing. Firmware 2.3.00 build 1 is October 14, 2013.
But on the official Linksys Support latest firmware Ver.2.0.07 (build 2) Latest Date: 01/16/2015.

When you try to update the firmware on the 10% error occurs update.
Who can tell that in the firmware is on my device? And what to do next, because there is a problem with your ISP for the PPPoE connection. Normal operation of the device only for 4-5 minutes, and then the connection loss. I went to the ISP they connect their device to managed switches, but the problem is with my device.

I would like to update the firmware on your device to version 2.0.07, but how to do it?

Hmm. I’m not sure why the current firmware on your router does not match the firmware available on our site. Do you remember installing a 3rd party firmware? I suggest you reset the router to factory default settings before you perform the update.

Re: E1200 firmware upgrade fails

Thank you.
Unfortunately, it did not help.
Do the following:
1. Reset to factory settings.
2. Download Firmware FW_E1200_v2.0.07.002
3. By downloading firmware to the device.
When you download the firmware for 10% there is an error - error loading.

What else can be done / do?

Besure to disable any PC security software and browser add-ons. Try IE or FF. If IE, try with compatibilty mode enabled.

Re: E1200 firmware upgrade fails

Please confirm if I got this correctly. Did you do the upgrade while remotely connected to the router? If that is the case, it could be that the remote access is not stable. It would be safer to do the upgrade process over a wired connection. Plug a PC to the router and use it to update the firmware.
