E2500 Router

I received my E2500  on February 17:

Router Specs.

  1. Serial # 10A10C6B114966
  2. Router Pin # (Version #) 6803-2869

I installed it as follows:

1. Inserted the CD and followed the instructions.

  • SSID  "MagentaRabbit"
  • Password: "QB8rvYGAUb"

I have the following labtops at my house:
          1 MacBook Air

          1 MacBook Pro

1 Dell Inspiron that uses Windows XP

          2 Dell  XPS 14z running Windows 7

2. When I tried to access the internet wirelessly, the following occurred:

  • No connection to internet.
  • I clicked :"Diagnostics" and saw list of internet access icones which included : "Linksys", "MagentaRabbit" and "MagentaRabbit guest"
  • When I clicked on "MagentaRabbit", I was prompted to put a password. I put "QB8rvYGAUb"
  • The response was the password was incorrect. I could not access the internet.
  • However, when I tried to access the internet by clicking "Linksys" , I was able to get through to the internet.
  • The reason why I bought the E2500 because I wanted my internet access protected.
  • COULD YOU HELP ACCESS THE INTERNET THROUGH "MagentaRabbit". Why is the password "QB8rvYGAUb" not working?

Make sure you don't post private information such as serial #s and passwords. Only post what we ask for if you feel that it is safe to do so.

What kind of security are you using (WEP/WPA/WPA2?) Make sure you double-check that you entered in the password correctly.

BTW: The linksys network isn't yours so I would avoid using it.

Also, is this the first router you've installed with that SSID?

Re: E2500 Router

And the program that is telling you to do this is...Cisco Connect? Do you know what the names of the updates are?

Re: E2500 Router

yes, Cisco connect is telling me, and there is no more information but that.  no numbers/description of update.  as soon as I complete one, tells me there is another, in the same language.

ideas?

thanks

Re: E2500 Router

I would ignore them or try reinstalling Cisco Connect.

Re: E2500 Router

I am having the exact same problem with Cisco Connect continually trying to install and important update to the router.  The firmware version never changes.  It is already at the latest.

Two incidents have been opened via Chat

120221-007750

and

120221-008531

For now I am just ignoring the warning about new software unti:

"From here, we need further investigate this, John. I will be forwarding this case to our senior team and they will be the one assisting you from here, okay?"

I hear from their senior team.

I have already done a bunch of the troubleshooting of this and the two Chat session transcripts should provide a good start towards resolving the issue.

When I hear back from the Cisco senior team, I'll post the response here.
