E4200 Media Server Constantly Accessing USB disk

I seem to be having an issue with a USB attached WD MyBook 1TB (2 500 gig disks). I rsync to the MyBook from my main PC which has all my pictures (thousands) music (thousands) and video (hundreds).

When I plug it into the E4200, it immediately accesses the disk, mounts it, and the media server starts indexing. The fan on the MyBook gradually ramps up to full and stays there. When the MyBook is accessing data heavily, that fan is LOUD.

And the problem is, it never stops. I've left the house for 5 hours, came back, and it's still churning the disk, fan is going ballistic.

Even if I turn the media server off the e4200 is constantly accessing the disk causing the fan to run (albeit, not at full speed).

I'm afraid to modify the shares on the media server to start the index process all over again and I can't seem to see any video unless one of the shares is the full root "/" filesystem.

Can anyone help?

Hello,

I have the same config except with a 2Tb  WD Mybook.

I cant even get files on it. When I start copying the USB disk turns to readonly after 10 minutes of copying.

Only a reboot of the E4200 solves the problem, for 10 minutes.

Dont have a clue why..
