Have an E4200 on a Win 7 SP1 PC. Installed Firmware 220.127.116.11047 and cold rebooted cable modem and router today. Router works great but it's always been in Mixed Mode on both 5 and 2.4 GHz; Channel Width on both freqs is 20 or 40 MHz; 5 GHz Channel is 36 and 2.4 GHz is 4. I've read there other channels are better for distance (no close neighbors so that's no factor), but I don't know if that's true, or if so, how to change them (the router is in Connection Type = Automatic - DHCP if that makes a difference).
Thanks for any information on the best channels to use and how to set them.

Wireless channels? Go to Wireless > Basic Wireless Settings and click Manual. If you want to switch channels, change the 2.4 GHz to 1, 6, or 11 since they're considered non-overlapping channels. 5 GHz should be fine but go ahead and experiment on the throughput for each channel if it would make any difference.

use inssider or similar program to see which channels are free, if your neighbour is using channel 6 then it's not wise to use c6. inssider shows both 2.4 and 5GHz (if your wireless card is 5GHz capable).
