My serial number on the E4200 starts with 01 - does that indicate it is a version 1? If not, how do I determine which version I have?

The version number can be determined by looking at the model number at the bottom of the router. It would only say "E4200" only if it is version 1, if it is version 2, then it would say "E4200 v 2". The software update of the product you have would depend on the version number. You can check for the latest updates here.
There are two ways to disable Guest access. You can disable it via Cisco Connect but if you don't have it installed on your computer then you can do it via the Setup Page. Please refer to the links below:
