EA2700 port forwarding to remote access IP camera

I am wanting to access my IP camera over the Internet. I am not a computer wiz by any stretch and after a couple of failed attempts, am reaching out for help. My ISP is Comcast and they say that I have dynamic dns and should have no issues viewing my cameras. I know how to get to the port forwarding area of the router but am confused as to which ports to forward. The set up instructions for the camera (Airsight) suck. Screen shots of the set up don't match the actual router Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: EA2700 port forwarding to remote access IP camera

What is the brand and model of your camera? You might need to ask the camera manufacturer on what is the “Alternate Web Access port” that you need to open on your router. By the way were you using cisco connect cloud or the classic ui to access the router’s settings.

 If you are using cisco connect cloud then try the following:

  • access the router’s ui then click on the security tab;
  • uncheck “Filter anonymous Internet requests” then click on Apps and Gaming (still under the Security tab);
  • click on Port Range Forwarding then open the “Alternate Web Access port” that you have enabled on your camera;
  • you also need to enter the static ip address that you have assigned on your camera;
  • don’t forget to save on the settings then go to the troubleshooting tab
  • under the status subtab click on report
  • check on the router’s WAN ip address and try to ping the WAN ip address
  • if you get some replies then try to access the camera remotely using a remote computer since you can’t use your local computer because the router does not support reverse NAT or NAT redirection
  • type http://WAN_IP:smileytongue:ort_number (e.g. http://68.62.75.105:1024) to access the camera remotely

If you are the router’s classic ui then try the following:

  • access the router’s ui then click on the security tab;
  • uncheck “Filter anonymous Internet requests” then click on Applications and Gaming;
  •  click on Port Range Forwarding then open the “Alternate Web Access port” that you have enabled on your camera;
  • you also need to enter the static ip address that you have assigned on your camera;
  • don’t forget to save on the settings then go to the status tab
  • check on the router’s WAN ip address and try to ping the WAN ip address
  • if you get some replies then try to access the camera remotely using a remote computer since you can’t use your local computer because the router does not support reverse NAT or NAT redirection
  • type http://WAN_IP:smileytongue:ort_number (e.g. http://68.62.75.105:1024) to access the camera remotely

Try youtube for a tutorial on your Airsight camera. The link above is for some other camera though. YouTube has a lot of tutorials for cameras.

Or google.

Or portforward.com

Thanks. Tried  port forward and their screen shots are too blurry to read.

Were you able to find the camera’s alternate web access port because that is all you need to forward on your router.

Re: EA2700 port forwarding to remote access IP camera

I feel so dumb because i don't even know what an alternate we access port is.      Here is what I know... I can see my cameras on the LAN by typing  192.168.1.1xx:xxxx so, is the last set of x's the access port?

Re: EA2700 port forwarding to remote access IP camera

The alternate web access port is that port that you need to assign on your camera and that same port that you need to forward on your router for you to do remote access. I guess it will be best that you contact your camera manufacturer and ask them on how to assign/get that port.
