EA4500 Disable Cisco Connect Cloud

My EA4500 router now automatically goes to Cisco Connect Cloud, and I can no longer access my router directly through my browser. I do not want to use Cisco Connect Cloud, for security reasons, so how can I disable the automatic access to the cloud? Use of the Cisco Connect Cloud should be optional, and not mandatory. If the cloud is the only way I will be allowed to make changes in my router, I may just have to return it to the store. Can this "feature" be turned off?  Please !!!!

Re: EA4500 Disable Cisco Connect Cloud

Agree with this completely. I wish the upgrade from 2.0.37 to 2.1.38 would have been more of a manual process (go to the site, download the firmware, etc) where I could have seen a preview. This Cisco Connect Cloud thing is a joke. Please provide downloads for the 2.0.37 firmware so I can revert mine back!

Re: EA4500 Disable Cisco Connect Cloud

My EA4500 just got this cisco cloud trash that limits my access to my router too. This is enough to make me buy a different product if I can't get into my router.  I don't need Cisco limiting my access to my own network!  Does anyone have a freaking fix for this trash or is the fix to throw it away and by Netgear?

Re: EA4500 Disable Cisco Connect Cloud

I totally agree.

You can log into the router using the old way by disconnecting the internet.

But most of the options are not available as far as I can tell.

I can't find any of these things:

MAC Address Filtering

USB drive setup

QOS settings

Port forwarding

And it's impossible to uncheck the automatic firmware upgrade box.

I will gladly downgrade the firmware if it's possible.

Re: EA4500 Disable Cisco Connect Cloud

I contacted cisco about this, advised them that this software is terrible and it needs to come off. I was told that someone would call me back between 24-48 hours to downgrade the firmware.

If anyone finds the firmware we had prioer to this (for the EA4500) please post it here.

Even if we find the old firmware, is it possible throgh the crippled connection method (disconnect the Internet) or even the cloud crap to downgrade?

Im going to assume it is, one way or the other. You can still "upgrade" the router via a file on this new firmware, Im assuming it will let you downgrade. *IF* Cisco calls me,  and I am able to do it, I will definitely post the process.

Right now I am scouring the internet looking for version Ver.2.0.37, Im sure someone out there has it. I even tried the wayback machine lol.

I really, really want this crappy software off my router, so much so that I think I will lose sleep tonight over how po'd I am that they did this.

PS - I am thinking about returning this router if I dont hear from them and exchanging it for one in the store with the older firmware and immediately making sure it doesnt do an automatic update. If it updates again I would just return for a refund. I will however give them the 24-48 hours.

Even if you can downgrade, the future is bleak.  What if a bug is discovered in the old firmware?  They will never fix it.

Looks cool but way slower than the previous interface. It seems they'll offer a remote downgrade option. I can imagine the crapload of calls they'd be getting by now.

Re: EA4500 Disable Cisco Connect Cloud

I'm also looking to revert back the firmware... Really regretted badly to upgrade the firmware without knowing that it will force the Cloud Connect on me. It's retarded.

Extremely slow and restricted. It really makes me regret getting this router already!

Anyone any solutions yet???
