Re: EA4500: weird login screen; can't login

Doesn't work for me.  I will not sign up for a cloud account to use my router, end of story.

Im actually curious about this. When you said "all is normal", does that mean the original GUI was in place and still active? So, if I disconnect my network connection, my modem, and I go to one of my computer and type in the routers IP, I will see the old GUI, and not the slimmed down version of this new CCC firmware that I see whenever it erroneously reports that my network connection is down?

Reason why I am curious is if the old GUI is still intact in this firmware, just not accessable at present, perhaps this is something easier fixed then a downgrade to an old version.

It's a slimmed down version of the new GUI.  All of the router's features are not accessible.   There are some features that aren't there in the full GUI either.

@markd I hope you are right and the old firmware/old fashioned way to access OUR routers is still there. All Cisco needs to do is tell us how to open it. Or a creative hacker will soon find a way. Sadly, at present, we can not access OUR routers the old way.

Re: EA4500: weird login screen; can't login

There are apparently some people that are trying very hard to sell us on a feature that is not being well received by the community.  I am not pleased at being forced to log into the Connect Cloud just to access what I consider basic functionality on my router.  The product management team that made this decision should be managed better.  I do not blame the product manager, I blame the entire team that thought this would be a good idea.  I have been a Linksys customer since it's earliest models, and regretfully am switching to another vendor.  This will also include those purchasers I influence.

With tech support help, I have successfully downgraded to the old firmware.

However, I was told that the old firmware is not supported going forward.

How did you get the old firmware?

Nothing has really changed.  The last firmware for my E3000 is dated December 2010.  As soon as they introduce a new model support for everything older ends.
