I tried to put a high value of the beacon interval (4000) in a WRT54G and browsing the internet and over is faster but I can only do it over a intel pro wireless adapter in vista, using xp and a Linksys WMP54G wireless adapter the conecction permanently drops, the same happends with a DLink wireless adapter and XP. Also the XP built in wireless software doesn't work well. I've seen that a lot of people recommends lowering the beacon interval. Anyone has experimented the same?? It's a XP problem??
I think it is the interval at which the synchronization frame signals are sent. So increasing that might reduce overhead of network, but might not work work with all adapters, as most need to be more often synchronized with the access point.
